International standards provide a framework that allows us to design a reliable and sustainable structured cabling system. In other words, thanks to these standards, it's possible to adapt to the growing demand for bandwidth.
The Evolution of Standards is a collaborative effort among many stakeholders, including manufacturers, users, consultants, and others. Each party contributes its own perspective to the solution. For some, electrical or optical performance is the most important issue. For others, it is mechanical reliability. For still others, relative cost is paramount. Each proposal is discussed until a compromise is reached. It is this compromise that is ultimately incorporated into the standard. Once cabling requirements are standardized, only then can the applications that will operate on them be defined.
