In March of this year, Uber was conducting tests with an autonomous vehicle in Tempe, Arizona, when a 49-year-old woman crossed the road outside of a pedestrian crossing and was hit by the vehicle. As a result of the accident, the woman died upon arrival at the hospital.<\/p>\n
Features of an Uber autonomous vehicle:<\/p>\n
1. Cameras: The car is equipped with seven cameras located at the front, rear, and sides. These cameras measure near and far field of view to create a comprehensive view of the vehicle's surroundings. This allows the driver to calculate the distance to other vehicles, brake at traffic lights, and respect pedestrians and traffic signs.<\/p>\n
2. LIDAR: It is responsible for providing a three-dimensional and 360-degree exploration of the environment, using laser light.<\/p>\n
3. Precision sensor: With this technology, the vehicle provides greater accuracy and range thanks to improved resolution.<\/p>\n
4. GPS Antenna: The vehicle implements an antenna that provides GPS signal and wireless data capability.<\/p>\n
5. Computer: It has a calculation and storage system that allows for real-time data processing. It features an integrated cooling system that optimizes the performance of all components.<\/p>\n
