The literal translation is Building Automation Systems.
Traditionally, voice and data communication systems were separate in a building, although nowadays it is possible to integrate them.
It may include:
- Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC).
- Energy Management Systems (EMS).
- Lighting Control.
- Window and blind control.
- Digital signals.
- Security and Access Control Systems
- Video Surveillance.
Traditionally, each of these systems separately has communication protocols, called BAS protocols; however, the trend is to integrate them by designing systems with IP-based communication protocols.
